Excursions

During the EMBS in Rhodes, various excursions (all-day, half-day, etc.) will be available for the accompanying persons.

A half-day excursion to Lindos is proposed on Wednesday 28th, in the afternoon for all participants of the Symposium. Don’t miss the visit to the village and the archaeological site of Lindos! Find booking and price details below.

A Tour Desk will operate at the Symposium Registration Area, for information and booking.

 

TUESDAY (FULL DAY TRIP) – ISLAND TOUR

Tour of the island gives you an opportunity to see the biggest part of the Rhodes Island in one day, learn the life style of local people and taste the traditional Greek specialties.

Departure from hotel: 9.00

Tour includes:

  • First stop at Filerimos, visit of Acropolis of Ialyssos
  • Short way on bus to Butterfly Valley
  • After Butterfly Valley we move down on the west cost of the Island and visit Ancient Kamiros
  • Lunch time in Emponas and wine tasting
  • On the way back we visit the Saint Nektarios church

Arrival back to hotel around 17.00

Extra: Lunch & entrances to archeological sites (Filerimos, Kamiros, Butterflies)

 

WEDNESDAY (HALF DAY TRIP) – LINDOS BY BUS & BEE MUSEUM

According to the inhabitants of Rhodes, Lindos is the most beautiful place in the island. White small houses, narrow streets, filled with local trade shops, sea view taverns give this place a special atmosphere of traditional Greece.

Departure from hotel: 14.30

Tour includes:

  • On the way to Lindos, stop at the Bee Museum to learn the traditions of honey making in Rhodes
  • Before reaching the destination we stop for 5 min to take a panoramic photo of Lindos
  • Arrival to Lindos and walking tour to the Acropolis
  • Free time for shopping, souvenirs, photos

Arrival back to hotel around 19.00-19.30

FRIDAY (FULL DAY TRIP) – ISLAND TOUR

Tour of the island gives you an opportunity to see the Rhodes Island in one day: you will visit the most beautiful and attractive sights, will learn the life style of local citizens and taste the traditional Greek specialties.

9.00 Departure from hotel

Tour includes:

  • First stop at Lindos for panoramic photo
  • Visit to Prasonisi, where the Aegean sea meets the Mediterranean
  • View of the nearest islands from Monolithos
  • On the way to Emponas we stop at Siana village to light a candle at St. Panteleimon church
  • Lunch time in Emponas and wine tasting
  • On the way back we visit the Valley of Butterflies.

Arrival back to hotel around 17.30

BUTTERFLY VALLEY – THURSDAY, 09:00 – 13:00

The valley is located in 25 km from Rhodes town, near the area of Kalamonas. It is in this rare habitat that the butterfly Panaxia Quadripunctaria makes its appearance from mid-June to mid-September. Following the specially designed trails and wooden bridges, view the incredible beauty of the ponds filled with water lilies, waterfalls, vegetation, crystal waters and enjoy this unique natural phenomenon. The stone stairs you will encounter lead to the Monastery of Virgin Kalopetra, built by Dimitris Ypsilantis in 1782.

RHODES BY NIGHT – THURSDAY, 20:00 – 23:00

A 3-hour evening trip to Medieval old town and the “Throne of Helios” entertainment centre, where we will watch an impressive 9D show about the legends of Rhodes. Then you will have free time at the Old town for photos, for a walk on a huge market filled with souvenirs or for a drink in charming medieval atmosphere. Pick up from your hotel.

 

SYMI & PANORMITIS – EVERY DAY, 08:00 – 18:00

The boat trip to the island of Symi departs at 9 o’clock. It takes about 1h40min to Panormitis. The boat makes a stop for an hour at the beautiful monastery of Angel Michael, the Panormitis, featuring a wooden carved temple, byzantine walls frescoes, library and a museum. You can visit the nautical museum and admire the beauty of the place.

The boat then departs for the town of Symi, where you have opportunity to enjoy the unique architecture of the place for 3h15min. There possibility for swimming.

Arrival back to Rhodes at about 17.45.

LAZY DAY BY SAILING YACHT – EVERY DAY, 08:00 – 18:00

Full day mini cruise. Enjoy a magnificent day exploring the most scenic bays of the Island. Learn the secret of sailing with an experienced skipper, visit the most beautiful beaches of Rhodes, and enjoy swimming in pure crystal waters. Hear the sound of the wind in a memorable day.

Visit Kalithea, Faliraki, Antony Queen Bay, Ladiko.
